Here It Is…
Seeing as how the video has already had it’s shining moment I figured I would explain what it’s all about to my fans. To those of you who were disappointed with anything about the video (and believe me, there were MANY), the truth is, is that this internet community only reaches so far and then there are people in life listening to their radios bopping their heads to Me & U and some of those people aren’t so hype about the internet or looking me up for that matter. Therefore, there was an entire community of people who knew that Me & U song, but not Cassie the artist. Whether or not you liked it, it was my first HUGE “public appearence” and I needed to put my Cassie stamp on it.
This song is VERY suggestive, and I am VERY particular about my image and I kept it clean to preserve my name and image. There’s no guy because I personally felt that it would have been tacky. Yes, I bet you’re wondering, how would she know if she didn’t do it? ...Well, the truth is, is that I did shoot a video for this song before. It was extremely low budget and it was before I signed to a label. Unfortunately that BAD video that’s going around, I felt like it scarred the very beginnings of a promising future. No matter my excitement while making the video, I was not thinking for Cassie. Before I had a chance to voice my opinion someone had leaked it in it’s raw form.
Anyway, this is my blog and my voice is saying, give me a chance, you have up until this point. Let other people see me and identify with me and then I’ll prove that I am meant to be in this industry. You can’t always start at the top. The key to my madness is, remember my face, because I plan on sticking around for a while. Enjoy the video:

Madd respecct for taking charge and doing your thing on it. When i first saw it I actually thought that the concept was “me & you” so it was just you and the person watching it. Ray Kay did a really good job with that, it most definitely became your shining moment, just you and me when watching it.
Madd & much respect for your class and attitude; theres not too many people nowadays that just sell out to others opinions and don’t take charge of their career. You most definitly inspire me and I admire you for that.
I’ll be looking out for you doing even bigger things because i’ll be supporting all the way for you along for your ride. Keep it up, stay up, much love and I know i’ll be seeing you even bigger soon.

Also, it sort of reminds me of that Janet Jackson video “Pleasure Principle” when it was just her for the whole video breaking it down, the only difference being that “Me & U” has a more mellow groove so the dancing was more slow and seductive. All in all, I think it’s pretty smooth.
Anyway, stay on ur grind mami and congratulations. I see you’re #6 on the billboard 100. Thats no small accomplishment. You should be proud. Stay humble and sweet.

I saw this video and “the bad one” :O The bad one was WAS very suggestive. You dancing in your underwear then you fall off the bed? You are only 19! Yeah I didn’t like that one. The only things I dislike about this was:
1. You stayed in one room no change of scenery
2. Kissing the mirror?
3. It reminds me of beyonce and ciara’s dance moves.
4. It makes it seems like the Me and U, you are talking is yourself and your mirror image.

Hi there Cassie, I just wanted to make a few comments.
First and foremost, the video was great. Your decision to keep a “male lead” out of it was a good choice. Its nice to see some music artists actually care how their fans view them. Too often do we see and hear the same music and videos with nothing but degrading lyrics and images of people in them. I was a bit curious as to the road you were going to take with the video when you keep the, as you said, very suggestive lyrics in mind. With the way you handled the video and the way you seem to carry yourself you may have won me as a lifelong fan.
Next, you started off on the internet. You dont have the slightest idea how ecstatic that makes me. As you said, there aren’t a lot of people out there who are as hyped about the internet as we; however, Im glad to see someone such as yourself getting where they want to because of it.
Also, dont let the haters who are too cowardly to even comment with a valid email address get to you. There will always be those who try to bring you down, just remember that as long as you are true to you and keep doing what you do, they cant touch you.
I will definitely be keeping up with you and your career. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep in touch with one another if possible. And seeing as you’re “internet born” it’d be interesting to hear what other sites, besides MySpace, that you’re into. If you get the time and feel like sending me a message please don’t hesitate. Im even gonna bookmark this blog so I can keep up with you the best I can.

How long did this video take to complete? YOu said you kept it clean thats great, but I think you could’ve also kept it clean and be more creative with it also. The people who hav’nt see you on the internet their idea of the video will probally be the same as people who’ve looked you up on the internet. I would’ve loved to see you out of that dark dancing room. videos add to the marketing of Artists, so i guess the single probally will stay longer on the charts if its voted top #1 on mtv or bet. I think more money for you also. But hey the vid is done, so come out with the next big single and bangin video next time.

Hey girl I liked the theme of the video! It reminds me of me in the mirror. I learned some of the coreography from rhapsody at monsters. You kept it real and simple my only critisism is on the part where you poor water on yourself. I thought it was too cliche. But other than that I like a girl that can bring it on the dance floor!

Well…I loved you in your video. You looked pretty and sexy in it. And I loved your moves. Your song is hott! Everyone has been bumping it for a while now. But now that the video is out, then MTV and BET are going to be wearing it out!
I felt that the video could’ve had more than one scene to it..but it’s okay. It was still hott! And I’ve seen the video so many times now. I saw when 106 & Park premiered it…and I saw you on TRL today when they premiered it. I see that you’re shy and nervous…but that’s okay. You’ll come out of that phase very soon. To me, i think i was MADD. It isnt like other video clips, which is great because you wouldnt something so similar since that would be so boring. the video that has leaked won’t affect your success. like you said, not everybody has internet access. the song is very catchy and will do well. it’s funny how the girls here in australia have caught onto the song and cheer when it comes on in the club. there’s somethin about the beat. things can only get better, you’ve definately got the image. in terms of competin with the ciara’s and rihanna’s in the industry. you definately got the better production.
the big budget videos will come, just a matter of time. i hope the single does well, because that means we’ll be seein more of you. ‘got a long way to go’ would be a good 2nd single, beat from that is crazy. time will tell. much success, peace…

I love the debates on this site. You have the diehard fans that loved the video, you have those that wanted more you have those that didn’t like it at all. A nice cross section of people offering up their opinions. This industry has many complicated layers and the artist is on the front line to field all of the good the bad and the ugly. I think that people (including myself) don’t always separate the artist from the person On TRL you did you.; then they showed your video and the audience saw the artist. Each year our nation is shaken with natural disasters. On August 29,2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed the lives of many civilians in the Gulf Coast. Between the dates of September 28 – October 3,2005 wildfire raged through Los Angeles, California. On November 12, 2005 nine tornadoes landed in Iowa destroying everything in their path. With each new disaster there are people affected. In an effort to honor those lost and help those who have survived, we are trying to host a benefit event. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to be donated to the National Disaster Relief Fund to help those still in need. Please lend a helping hand to this positive event. We ask that you please volunteer your time and effort in making this a great event that could potentially take place annually to help future victims of natural disasters. We ask that you help us by lending us your beautiful voice and talent. We have tentatively set to date of the event to be September 9,2006. Please help our worthy cause.

Gosh i love youR new song Cassie, but i think you should’ve done a completely different video. Your young & beautiful, you should’ve done like a cute high school relationship kind of thing. That video with Mario wasn’t bad. But in your video it seems like you’re trying to audition for a strip club or a pussycat doll show or something. Your voice does it all, girl you don’t need to be all up in the videos like a BET uncut or something. i’m full filipino, and the only thing that’s really discouraging for me is that i almost feel like it’s already twice as hard as not that many asian-americans are in the mainstream music industry. in talking to some people, one of the problems that i’ve been given is that it’s hard to find what to market an artist with an asian-american background as…which really sucks…what’s your take on this? and what can be done about that on my part?

I had so much respect for you when you first came out. Granted your vocals aren’t perfect but you were different, you were dancing and you weren’t selling sex.
But when I saw the uncut version of your video it was really disturbing. I was hurt for all the young girls that will see it and try to emulate your behaviour before they’re ready.
But then I feel hurt that someone your age would even think they need to behave that way to sell a song. Baby girl it’s not worth it. I used to stand up for you and I thought you were so beautiful, at least until I saw the way you degraded yourself in that uncut video. And for what? For some success? Some money? Some fame?
It’s one thing for somebody’s private tapes to get leaked. But to make a video like that to sell some song? That’s just soft-core porn. Do you, I’m not hating. But don’t try to act all innocent and brand-new now that it’s out there. Where are your parents? They should be ashamed.
I really hope you develop some self-esteem outside of what you can do for a man sexually. The way you’re backpedaling makes it sound like this whole experience has forced you to grow up some.

Hey wuts up, My name is Joe and im a big fan on music videos and comparing them with others to see which is the best. Well as for me im a professional musician for the Apastolic Assembly for the big convetntions we have in CA, TX, and NY and some others in the smaller areas, but NEways back to ur video, let me tell you, B4 yours came out, there was some that were really good, but to tell you the truth i’ve never heard of you until this video, and let me tell you, yours KNOCKED of all the #1’s that i had and your became it. Just to tell you i have never heard NE1 sing as GOOD as you in my music life time, but ALWAYS keep your head up when bad things happen and beleive that no one can take your tallent away that GOD has givin you but him.
